A little information about Austin

Did you know that Austin is currently the greenest city in America? Wow! That means here in Austin we are doing so much to save our planet. That is cool. In Austin there are so many trees and parks everywhere. Austin people probably drive too much as do many Americans. I know that in Tokyo everyone uses the public transportation system, that is great. That's probably where we are lacking here in Austin, no real public transportation system. But we do expect our own light rail system in the next few years.

Austin is also the home of the University of Texas. The University of Texas is known around the world as a great university. There are about 50,000 students at that school. Of course the University of Texas influences much around Austin.

Austin is the capital city of Texas. Currently there are about 800,000 people who live in Austin. The metropolitan area has around 1,500,000 people. So Austin is not a giant city but is the home to many important companies. In the old days Austin was just a little city but now we do have everything here. There are any number of places where one can spend tons of money shopping for example and I'm not talking just Walmart either. Austin now has Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Macy's, an Apple store and any number of other places for those who like to watch the money siphon out of their pocket.

Businesswise Austin has come a long way from the old days when it was just the entry for the Hill Country. For example Dell began in Austin Texas and Samsung and Motorola have their headquarters here. IBM has a large presence in Austin as do AMD, Texas Instruments and other high tech companies. Austin is a good place to find a job.
